What is XML Sapiens?
The number of commercial CMSs is diligently growing up. Many of open standards have been approved lately. They allow to structure information within sites, separate it from design, but the most of CMSs still don’t follow them. The XSLT standard exists for quite a long time. It allows to form documents from different sources: XML-files with structured document contents and an XSL-template with the description how the document will be presented at the site. Besides, document forming can be performed at the client side. Well, XSLT is a perfect solution in conception, but practically it is used quite rarely within CMSs. Why? Maybe we need new solutions, which include features of the open standards and are easy to use. One of those solutions can be XML Sapiens markup language. So, what is XML Sapiens?

User Interface Management by CMS Becomes Easier
At the 4th CIS PHP Conference (May, 12-13, Kiev) the "XML Sapiens unified site-building
concept in focus of XML/PHP" was presented. The presentation made an attempt to draw attention to a number of vital questions in web-development, such as: meta-description of web-applications user interface, the web resource object model, the conception of data/presentation/model separation and etc. These points include some hot problems. The XML Sapiens can decide these problems. It is necessary to remind that the XML Sapiens is a markup language for CMS developers. The XML Sapiens is aimed to help cutting down time expenses in a web-project development thus lowering project's cost and minimizing laborious system programming in web-site development.

XML has acquired a distinguished popularity lately. No one doubts its perspectives of overall use. The concept of semantic web is no longer an abstraction and is implemented into life with confidence. In the world net’s information cacophony there appears harmony. In the hands of talented conductors such as W3C, ISO, OASIS it can diversify into a symphony.
Today XML family has so many standards available that it seems there should be quite enough for all possible aspects of information technology world. It is generally so. But let’s see how XML era has influenced ordinary web development tasks...

SAPID CMS 1.2 File-flat Edition is out!
The new version of SAPID has a usual for Windows’ users interface of site structure management with drag&drop capabilities; any static site can be automatically transferred into SAPID, and any site created on the basis of SAPID can be easily transformed into a static HTML, XML or PHP site, if needed.
Besides SAPID 1.2 complies with XML Sapiens 1.1 requirements that makes its functional capabilities in comparison with other open-source content management systems (CMSs).
New information is added at http://sapid.sf.net: documents, interactive tutorials, a demo, a screenshot gallery, a forum. There is also an Internet messenger for contacting the SAPID community.
